INSURANCE & PAYMENT

Will my insurance cover treatment? 

Sadly, most insurance companies do not cover Nutrition Therapy for Eating Disorders.
They seem to want to pay for hospitalization when things get really critical
but do not realize the savings involved when evidence-based care is provided in
an outpatient setting BEFORE patients become depressed to the point of suicidal
ideation.

UHA does cover, as well as Kaiser Permanente through their Behavioral Health
program.BCBS FEP also covers Nutrition Therapy.

I provide pre-paid discounts and take credit cards to help patients pay for
Nutrition Therapy when their insurance does not cover.

I’ve been providing nutrition therapy for the treatment of eating disorders since 1995. Besides my outpatient private practice in Kailua, I serve as the Nutrition Support Dietitian for Kahi Mohala Behavioral Hospital Inpatient Eating Disorder services.
